This presentation was created by the participants in the EDAW Professional
Intern Program in Nassau. They spent from June 12 to June 26th in Nassau,
meeting stakeholders, government officials, international experts, residents
and visitors. They made this presentation as a summary of their ideas and
concepts. These will be refined and printed in a book for delivery to the
sponsors. The intention was that the ideas be provocative, thoughtful and based
on their experience and the input of all the people they met. The Prime
Minister commented that the Interns met that challenge. Some of the ideas will
be implementable, some will require refinement and others may not stand the
test of further examination. The Vision, however, is a bold one - that Bay
Street and Nassau can become a world Class destination as well as a home to the
Government of the Bahamas and people of New Providence.
EDAW have been separately retained to undertake a detailed planning effort for
Bay Street and the Nassau waterfront. They will continue to work with all
interested parties to develop these and other concepts, test their feasibility
and produce an Action Plan by early 2005.
